Camp Song Question: Tell Me, Why?
Tell me why the ivy twines.
Tell me why the stars do shine.
Tell me why the sky is blue.
And I will tell you just why I love you.
Camp Song Answer (also recorded by Pat Benatar):
Because God made the ivy twine.
Because God made the stars to shine.
Because God made the sky so blue.
Because God made you, that's why I love you.
Alternate Answer from The Joke Book of Isaac Asimov:
Nuclear fusion makes stars to shine,
Tropisms make the ivy twine,
Raleigh scattering make skies so blue,
Testicular hormones are why I love you.
Alternate Answer from Eastern Illinois University’s Course Catalog:
The only acceptable answer must evade the question itself. The moment we specify that quality which, we claim, causes us to love the other ("Because of the way you laugh, because of the look in your eyes," etc.), we also render our love depressingly finite and material—in a way, false.
If anyone ever asks, "Why do you love me?" I would certainly avoid the above answers. In response, you might want to respond with your own riddle (please see previous post!).
